The Biological Foundations of Psi Plasma 159

This may throw some light on the experiences of Bob Rame cited earlier. Cholinergia, as we have said many times, now finds some rationale as being a vital factor in the regulation and control of the biological state leading to a mobile center of consciousness.

In general we can say that if the correct amounts of potassium, carbon dioxide, and acetylcholine are added to the nervous system, these definitely produce an increase in the amplitude of the wave forms, or voltage increase.

However, if these agents have a prolonged action on the nervous system or are given in high doses, there is a decrease in the electrical activity of the brain, principally a decrease in frequency. These facts accord well with our hypothesis that the aim of the last portion® of the ritual of the irrational is to decrease the frequency of the nerve elements in the brain toward the rate of the alpha frequency, 8–10 cycles per second.10 Having now outlined the general physiological condition necessary for the control of the plasma membrane, we turn in the next chapter to a more detailed analysis of the relationship between the plasma-membrane state, and the psi-plasma state.

NOTES Chapter 10

1. Aschheim, Emil, “Ion Adsorption and Excitation”, Science, March 20,1959, p. 779.

2. Frequency of an electrical oscillation:

1

v =

2π√ LC

For plasma membrane:

L = 0.2 Henry = MQ-2 L 2

C = 1 Microfarad = M-1 Q 2 L-2T2

Taking these values we find the resonant frequency of normal nerve by the above equation to be approximately 360 c.p.s.
